C V Joshi
Chintaman Vinayak Joshi (1892-1963) was a prolific Marathi author and humorist, as well as a scholar of Pali and Buddhism. Through his satirical and pun-filled character sketches and essays, he critiqued social and religious evils and shone a light on the eccentricities of human nature. His characters Chimanrao and Gundyabhau enjoy an iconic status in Marathi literature and were also adapted for television and stage.
